Hi all,
As predicted, today was a very hard day with lots of climbing. Unfortunately, we also faced serious crosswinds of 35km/h for the last 90kms of the ride. The ride out of Cann River was pleasant for the first 30kms then the climbing started in earnest until the 90km mark.
The temperature at the start was 8 degrees and stayed around there all day until we reached Cooma. (It snowed in Perisher yesterday...)
We rode 174.1 kms at an average speed of 26 km/h and climbed 2480 metres.
Cumulatively, this week, we have ridden 650kms in 4 days at an avg. pace of 26.5 km/h and burned around 12,000 calories and climbed approximately 9,000 metres. (Berowra or Bobbin Head are approximately 200m)
Tomorrow will see us riding to Canberra. It will be a reasonably short day of approximately 120kms. However, we will be on camera, with Giann Rooney filming a segment for ‘Getaway’
Regards from the Tour

Day 4 – Cann River to Cooma
Well let’s just say that this was a tough day! We had a scare about 2am as a massive cold front moved through shaking the town and bringing rain. But by 6am all gone and clear skies. We had a small group head off with DA (of course) to head up the hills early. The rest of the group left 1h 30min behind and had some great riding through some awesome tree lined roads and then a hill at 50k. In fairness not too bad but when we got to the top the wind had hit and we enjoyed those lovely cross winds and cold weather. We had this cross wind all day but the road did swing around a fair bit and gave some relief. A few great stops and a ling lunch with a big sprint off between Cobby and Red Dog was a highlight (after Cobby made Red Dog wear a back pack with 6 full water bottles until the 130k mark!) Fair to say revenge was sweet and Cobby got smashed in the sprint into Cooma!! Had some funny awards last night and reintroduced the Bevvy Day which starts tomorrow at our accommodation (Crown Plaza Presidential suite) won by a consortium (Angelo and Hourigan – DA’s mate for $3000).
