Dateline: 1 Apr 08
Location: Lakes Entrance
Kilometres:170km
Climbing:1490m
Descent:3100m
Hours in saddle:5h 20m
Average Heartbeat:130bpm
Average speed: 32 kph
We started off at 8am with a temperature of 4 degrees. Initially we descended - very cold with lots of layers on and very fast. We descended into the Tambo valley that we followed for most of the day. The scenery was spectacular with lots of farms and the river was very picturesque. We stopped at Omeo at the 45km mark to shed some layers and get some coffee and some food. After that it was a further 95km to lunch which was mainly down with a couple of big ups. Rollings hills and a beautiful river. We had lunch at Bruthen which was a well deserved break. From there it was a nice 30 odd kms to Lakes Entrance. In a word the day was medium in nature.

Today we had Steven Woodridge riding (yesterday he was sick). He has won Gold medals for Australia in cycling - serious pedigree. Also have on the tour Warwick Waugh- ex wallaby- mountain of a man at 130kgs.

Tomorrow we do 130km to Cann River.

The children thank you.

Day 2 – Mt Hotham to Lakes Entrance

Woke up to perfect sunshine but very cold. The decent was great with Westy leading the way with a few of us lads close behind. Coffee at Omeo and then off on a great 170km down hill ride to Lakes Entrance. It was just one of those perfect days on Tour with the weather heating up to shorts and shirt and the group sticking together at least till 10k our of town. Not much to say but just an awesome day which everyone got there confidence back and road really well.
