It's your turn to get on the front

Welcome to the last ever TDK!  We are riding from Albury to Wollongong, 27th March to April 1st 2017.

The broad details are:

Getting there:  Most riders will travel by plane to Albury.  Some new riders will help drive support cars or go in a Coaster bus. Everyone will arrive in Albury on Sunday 26th.

Evening entertainment:  Dinner will be filled with awards, some funny, some serious, but mostly with plenty of banter and a hint of nostalgia. We have riding with us Mike Tomalaris of Tour de France fame.  He will no doubt recollect some stories from his years behind the microphone but will also support sponsors for launches or boardroom lunches.

Sponsors:  We are looking to have 7-8 team sponsors (currently 5) and 4-6 comp jersey sponsors.  There is an opportunity to for you or your organisation to sponsor the final TDK – more on that below.

Website:  We’ll publish updates and rider information to www.tourdekids.org.au in the weeks and months leading up to the ride.  This year our website and fundraising software are provided by Grassrootz, which is founded by TDK alumni Ben Graetz.  The savings from using Grassrootz for the TDK will mean more money goes to Starlight to help sick kids.

Fundraising:  As always, this Tour is as much about giving back as it is about coming together and having the best week of your life. We all have an obligation to fundraise, $3,000 as your absolute minimum requirement and the sky is the limit so don’t stop there. You will often hear the phrase, “IT’S FOR THE KIDS”. Well, so too your fundraising. All your fees cover your personal expenses and every dollar you raise goes towards Starlight Children’s Foundation. We will be granting as many Wishes to kids in need, BUT it is also a time to celebrate the 16th and LAST TDK.

Additional information:  Julia Glaser from Starlight (Julia.Glaser@starlight.org.au) will be providing updates, including finalising your registration, as well as additional support information as we get closer to the tour.

How you can help:  Now that your Committee has encouraged 65 riders to celebrate I need to ask each and every one of you, how you can help? Start by considering sponsoring a team. Every year our sponsors ALWAYS come from within the ride. Basically a team (approx. 8 or 9 per team) is $25,000, and a comp jersey similar to the TdF is $10,000. Can you help to sponsor a team or co-sponsor with another Tdk mate? Or do you want your own comp jersey?
